fantastic, very eye catching!! 
Its not only the unusual angle that works, but the lovely amount of delicate detail you've put in. The colour scheme works well, and the texture is really nice ^^ Did you use gouache?
I suppose the only crit I have (I've suddenly noticed that it says 'advanced critique welcomed!) is that the character at the bottom looks like it was drawn a little arkwardly/unclearly...although I feel the amount of detail in the painting makes this unoticable unless you are really looking.
